This Ipswich Colours of Christmas festival provides the opportunity for Ipswich residents to engage and reconnect together as a community in the joyful expression of the Christmas season after a year of social and economic challenges and enforced isolation. It is also an opportunity for local ethic based community and church groups to share the colours and vibrancy of their cultural backgrounds with the wider community – providing an opportunity to build bridges and social connection. It gives the opportunity for community service organisations and local sports clubs to promote themselves and engage new members. This event also creates an opportunity for the local musicians, singers and dancers to perform and showcase local talent, including providing opportunities for younger and emerging artists to perform.

This Festival builds on the success of community Christmas Festivals held at Tivoli Drive In in 2017, 2018 and 2019 which have attracted up to 3000 people and featured a range of family oriented and community marketplace activities through the late afternoon, live on-stage music and dance performances by local cultural groups and merging artists, traditional Christmas fare such as Santa’s Cave and festive light displays, and climaxed by a top line Christmas Carol celebration with two headline nationally recognised performers of Paulini and Sophie Salvesani and a free Christmas themed family Drive In movie. The Ipswich Colours of Christmas Festival 2020 will feature: Gates opening at 3pm to array of Christmas Markets, Santa Cave, Main stage performances featuring multi-cultural dance groups, Indigenous welcome and dance, Mayor speech, Santa appearance, Fireworks and a Christmas movie.
